It caught my eye immediately when we were passing through, so we stopped and took photographs. The owners of the little shop shown beside the truck still use this every day. It is so old it has “character”, which is a lofty goal for all of us, isn’t it! Back to top ![]() oil on canvas This beautiful little courtyard café in Spain was so charming to me that I had to paint it. I love the way the lights are reflecting on everything. It had been raining and the people had gone inside. The rain made the reflections glow even more. I was very pleased with the way the right side of her body is almost lost in the shadows. I wanted the viewer to respond to it in their own personal way. The pose can assume a sense of melancholy, maybe modesty, or even fear. In any case, the beauty of the model is apparent. We passed this old man on our way to Tanah Lot, and he seemed so picturesque and serene as he played his flute. The old water buffalo seemed perfectly content, and almost to be listening intently. We turned the car around and took a photograph, which captured the moment precisely. Back to top ![]() 16x20 oil on canvas From my trip to Bali, this beautiful girl was performing the Balinese Legong Dance in Ubud. The girls who perform the lead in this dance are typically about 12 or 13 years old. The demands of the dance are quite difficult for any but the most young and limber. I thought she was so lovely and took a photograph with a telescopic lens. This painting is a result of that shot. Back to top ![]() 16x20 oil on board I was watching a soccer game when this I conceived of this painting. The blue sky, the red shirt and all the “soccer moms” around seemed like a perfect example of today’s family life. The little boy has such a sense of fun on his face and the sun emphasized his features quite well. Back to top ![]() 12x16 oil on board I was walking around Old Town Fort Collins when I saw this older gentleman sitting outside a shop called Perennial Gardener. It was early Spring and the name of the shop and the man sitting there seemed to fit perfectly. I snapped a photograph of him when he wasn’t looking and painted it later. Back to top ![]() 16x20 oil on canvas I am not typically a still life artist, but I was prompted to paint this one when I noticed how the light struck the bromeliad with such beauty. The room was rather dark and the light came from a floor lamp in the same room. I placed it on the floor to get a different perspective. Back to top ![]() 12x20 oil on canvas Back to top |
